The «Photography Trips with the Passariello Bros.» are a lot more than workshops or vacation: they are vital experiences where you can immerse in the passionate world of wildlife photography, learn about techniques, animal behavior and await for daylight to provide you with amazing images in some of the most spectacular locations in Venezuela.
The Andes, the Plains, the Caribbean, the Amazonas or the Guiana Highlands, are some of our typical destinations. Nonetheless, each year we add new places where Venezuelan geography can get you to hallucinate.
The Passariello Bros. from AVE Project Foundation are deeply committed to preserving nature. Hence, 20% of these trips income are financing their organization that works for promoting environmental awareness and green attitudes in Venezuela as well as in other countries in South America.
During these trips, which are real photo safaris, we will travel to some of the National parks and most relevant reserves of the National geography. From Sierra Nevada National Park, with its everlasting snow scenario, to the famous Hato Cedral, a reserve of over 74,000 acres of plains where you will be able to see the endangered Orinoco Alligator, the mythical Jaguar, Otters, Giant Anteaters, howler monkeys and over 300 bird species , travelling thru the Andes Piedmont where the Andean cock-of-the-rock awaits you and also the red-roofed fruitcrow, the Borde Seco Dam in Tapo Caparo National Park- a 50-mile navigable water mirror -where you will be able to see the shy Spectacled Bear, Spider Monkeys (also you can fish the famous Pavon fish and piranhas) among many other destinations where we can take you: adventure trip lover.
The trip’s goal is to take pictures of the South American wild fauna, in an exclusive group of 8 passengers who will travel in conditioned vehicles fit to provide the travelers with good visual angles in any direction. Our purpose is that the travelers go home with unforgettable pictures.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
During the trip, we will take the time to practice multiple techniques and photo explanations. This workshop offers customized knowledge either for people that are just curious about photography or professionals that wish to master nature photography. Some of the topics that will be explained in our theoretical/ practical sessions are:
- Digital photography: basic and advanced concepts.
- Proper material for Nature photography.
- Exposure and capture.
- Later processing using software.
- Landscape photography, exposure light.
- Photography composition.
- Fauna photography.
- Photography Project reports.
- Photography as a means of preservation.
Also, during the trip, participants will receive complementary multimedia contents. Within the weeks after the trip, you will have available the Passariello Bros.’ tutorial for any photo related doubts and you will be able to upload your images to an exclusive section in our webpage, to be commented about.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO PARTICIPATE?
You only need to be fond of landscape and fauna photography which will be the main purpose of the trip.
You do not need any previous knowledge. You can take advantage of the trip either if you are a beginner or a professional.
You do not require any minimal photography equipment; our philosophy is for you take advantage of the equipment you have available. Nonetheless, for this trip, we advise the use of telephoto lens, wide angle and macro lenses. Of course, once you register we will send you more information on what the recommended equipment for the trip is.
You do not need to be in great shape, just willing to spend hours and hours in the field taking pictures.
Day 1: Arrival to El Vigía Airport, Mérida, accommodation at Hotel Bari, Menu dinner.
Day 2: Breakfast and trip to La Bravera Lodge in Andrés Bello County, traveler accommodation in their rooms and photo tour around the lodge; there, visitors will be able to take pictures of 5 different species of hummingbirds which are permanent residents in the facility surroundings. Around the lodge, travelers will be able to hike and document some of the place’s native birds. Image downloading, species identification and photo briefing.
Day 3: We will continue to look for the local fauna, especially at sunrise and sunset. Image downloading and species identification.
Day 4: Trip to Chorotal, another altitudinal location where the travelers will be able to take on-the-road pictures of several bird species and plants that are not available at the lodge height. Lunch, return at sunset for species identification.
Day 5: Sunrise photos at Limones, another location at a lower level where several birds can be pictured. Return to lodge, light lunch and trip to Tabay, at La Mucuy, forest reserve at the foot of Sierra Nevada National park. Accommodation in lodges, dinner.
Day 6: Sunrise photos at La Mucuy National park where photos of the local birds and native vegetation can be taken. Lunch and resuming of photo trip. Return to lodge. Dinner followed by image downloading and species identification.
Day 7: Sunrise photos at the road that links La Mucuy to Bolívar Peak (Pico Bolívar) at Sierra Nevada National Park. Lunch and resuming of photo trip. Return to lodge. Dinner followed by image downloading and species identification.
Day 8: Breakfast at the lodge and departure for Altamira de Cáceres, driving across the páramo to Barinas State, in the Andean Piedmont. Accommodation of travelers in the camp, visit to Altamira town and lunch, walk around the camp and photo taking of local birds and native vegetation. Dinner followed by image downloading and species identification.
Day 9: Sunrise at the road that will lead us to the Andean cock-of-the-rock’s Lek. In this area we will be able to hopefully see the red-roofed fruitcrow and other emblematic species in the area, lunch and resuming of photo trip. Return to camp, Dinner followed by image downloading and species identification.
Day 10: Return the Andean cock-of-the-rock’s Lek, same activities as the previous day.
Day 11: In-camp breakfast and departure for Apure State to El Cedral reserve. Traveler accommodation, lunch and walk to the Matiyure camp in the surroundings of the river Matiyure- one of the most impressive Venezuelan wildlife sanctuaries. Return to camp. Dinner followed by image downloading and species identification. Night photo safari.
Day 12: Sunrise photos and safari driving along the inner roads of El Cedral, over 60 miles of inner roads of diversity that will astonish you. Lunch, resuming of safari, return to camp. Dinner followed by image downloading and species identification. Night photo safari.
Day 13: Sunrise photos and safari driving by the inner roads of El Cedral, over 60 miles of inner roads of diversity that will astonish you. Lunch, resuming of safari, return to camp. Dinner followed by image downloading and species identification. Night photo safari.
Day 14: Breakfast and departure for Táchira State, accommodation in lodge at Abejales, small town near the Camburito Dam at Tapo Caparo National Park, one of the least known parks in Venezuela. Visit to El Tazón where we will drive around one of the dam’s tributaries, lunch, resuming of photo trip. Return to lodge. Dinner followed by image downloading and species identification.
Day 15: Breakfast and sunrise at Camburito- Borde Seco Dam, a lake of over 50-mile navigable waters where we will make our photo trip by boat. Optional sports fishing of pavon and Caribes (piranhas), lunch, and resuming of the navigation. Return to lodge. Dinner followed by image downloading and species identification.
Day 16: Same activities as the previous day.
Day 17: Breakfast and departure for Santo Domingo Airport, Táchira State, end of the trip.
